O Beautiful For Spacious Skies, For Amber Waves Of Grain
As you may have already heard, Barack Obama is my candidate for President of the United States. In case you hadn't heard...

Barack Obama is my candidate for President of the United States.

I have at least one friend on my list who agrees, and she is in the San Francisco Bay Area. She found the feed of a speech Senator Obama made at the "Women For Obama" rally. The link to it is slightly tricky.

Go to:

http://cbs5.com/video

Search Obama

and click on the "Raw Video: Sen. Barack Obama campaigns in SF" link.

The speech is about a half hour long. You don't have to watch it, (unless you want to see the several standing ovations he gets during it) just put it on your speakers and listen as you are doing whatever you're doing. It's really isnt the video, it's the MESSAGE. That message comes through, loud and clear and strong and with urgency.

I challenge everyone on my friendslist to listen to this speech. Please. I'm just this side of begging here. If you have ever bothered to read a word I have said, I'm asking you. Take a few moments. Listen to what he says. Listen to the vision he has for the future. Listen to how he answers the people who claim he is "lacking experience." Listen to the plan. REALLY LISTEN.

It's time to bring people together. It's going to take this country to clean up this country.

"We're not just here to win an election... We're here to transform a nation!" --Barack Obama.

Then, if you feel like it, please leave your thoughts about the speech, the candidate, your early choices for the next Chief Executive. We need to start the dialog. I'm not expecting everyone on my list to agree with my view. But don't close your mind to the possibilities...

THANK YOU.

Signed, with a home tattoo, happy birthday to you was created for you.
Birthdays are very odd things. On one hand, I always sort of felt the mother of the child was who should have been celebrated on a birth day, since she was the one who did the labor. But really, that's not how it works. A Birthday marks the beginning of your natural life, and as such is celebrated by the person born.

I don't think I have ever had what most people would consider a "normal" birthday experience. I have only had one actual birthday party in my entire life, and that ended in disaster, with two boys having a fistfight and disrupting the proceedings. I couldn't even tell you what their names were! I didn't really know a lot of the guests at my one party.

My birthday, being at the end of August, tends to be forgotten or overlooked, generally. That's because it's before the school term so you don't get classmates to celebrate and it was after camp ended so you didn't get those people, either. It was in that gap where you don't really see or hear from anyone.

It's also weird because people assume that if you were born in August, you are a Leo. But Virgo starts on August 22nd, so that's not the case.

Virgos, I think, tend to not like huge celebrations. At least I don't. Maybe if I did, I would have thrown myself a party again, and tried to make it into what I wanted it to be.

But as much as Virgos don't like big congratulatory events, they do like a little celebration. If it has been merited. For me, I know it hasn't here, not based on any of the posts I've put up so far. But I'm getting there, I hope.

The other thing about birthdays is it means you're just getting older. When you're a kid and you want to grow up, this is great. You are starting to get some freedom, understand the world and get out to see it. But, after 21, that really isn't so special, and after 30, it sorta sucks. Time marches on, and the only thing you can do about it is age.

I guess compared to the alternative, it's not a bad thing, but still, there's no sense that being older in this society is a positive. It only makes you less relevant.

So what's the answer to this birthday mystery? What is the secret we need to learn from having our "personal new year" to start the next segment of our lives?

Time flies like the wind. Fruit flies like bananas.

Got 'em snatchin', robbin', thievin', stealin' ideas
Totally swiped this from someone else, from some place else. And yet, it's completely my own. You can learn something about me from this.

Instructions: Put your favorite music player on shuffle and fill in the names of the songs in the order they show up. Or you could pick your own songs, but that's not as much fun. ;o)

My birth was like: "Video Killed The Radio Star"  - The Buggles

Pictures came and broke your heart.

Next time I'm in front of a crowd, I'll say: "Encore" - Cheryl Lynn

Your love, so good
Deserves an encore!

My ultimate song for dancing is: "Third Time Lucky" - Basia

I've got my plans and brave ambitions
Knowing no bounds, no inhibitions

If I got lost on a desert island, I would yell: "Forever Blue" - Swing Out Sister

Nights don't come any longer...
Days seem to last forever...

I'll have a good day if I can just hear: "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band/With A Little Help From My Friends" - The Beatles

I get by with a little help from my friends
I get high with a little help from my friends

My love of life was inspired by the song: "Breakfast In America" - Supertramp

I'm a winner, I'm a sinner
Do you want my autograph?
I'm a loser, what a joker
I'm playing my jokes upon you...

This song will be playing when I meet the love of my life: "Space Oddity" - David Bowie

Tell my wife I love her very much
She knows.

My alter-ego is: "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" - Wang Chung

But now the music's on,
Oh baby, dance with me!

How will you die? "Sara" - Starship

No time is a good time for goodbyes.

What makes me happy is: "Show And Tell" - Al Wilson

Show and tell's just a game I play
when I want to say I love you
Girl, so show me and tell me
That you feel the same way too

Will I ever have kids?: "I Will Survive" - Gloria Gaynor

At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side.

My parents are like the song: "Love Me Two Times" - The Doors

Love me two times,
I'm goin' away.

My favorite thing to do is: "Money For Nothing" - Dire Straits

That ain't workin'
That's the way to do it.

The best thing about me is: "Sympathy For The Devil" - The Rolling Stones

But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game.

To cheer myself up I: "Overflowing" - Toby Lightman

Tryin' hard to swallow this pill
Maybe then I'll be able to feel

At my funeral they'll play: "Love Shack" - The B-52's

I'm heading down the Atlanta highway.

At my wedding they'll play: "Breathe Again" - Toni Braxton

Please understand, if love ends
That I promise you, I promise you that
that I shall never breathe again

My deepest secret is: "Fantasy" - Mariah Carey Featuring O.D.B.

Me and Mariah
Go back like penises and vaginas.

Ok, those aren't the lyrics, but don't you think they should have been?

My theme song: "Shiny Happy People" - R.E.M.

Meet me in the crowd
People, people
Throw your love around
love me, love me

My innermost desire is: "Shake It Up" - The Cars

Dance all night, play all day
Don't let nothin' get in the way.

My message to the world has always been: "A Heart In New York" - Garfunkel

A heart in New York
A love in her eyes
An open door
And a friend for the night.

This song describes my grandparents: "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)" - Green Day

It's something unpredictable
But in the end, is right.

The story of my life is: "A Little Less 16 Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me'" - Fall Out Boy

I set my clocks early
Cause I know I'm always late.

When I'm in the shower, I sing: "Me So Horny" - 2 Live Crew

I'm like a dog in heat
A freak without warning
I have an appetite for love
Cuz me...

My day will be like: "Cup Of Life" - Ricky Martin

Nothing can hold you back
If you really want it.

My best friend is like: "AM To PM" - Christina Milian

Everybody lookin' like stars
All the chicks and the fellas in the bars
All of y'all pumpin' this in your cars

My make-out song is: "Ring Of Fire" - Johnny Cash
Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire.

My last words will be: "Every Kinda People" - Robert Palmer

Whether yellow, black or white
every man's the same inside.

We're Putting Our Show Together; We're Polishing Up Our Act...
I promise not to harp on LiveJournal for too much longer. But over there, I have a public journal (as opposed to my locked personal one which also goes by the name "penpusher," btw), and this public journal is called "talk_show." I interview interesting bloggers from the LJ community, 30 so far have sat for a chat and it's been informative, fun, and as much a learning experience for me as it probably has been for the guest.

So, I'm considering taking this concept to these other blog services I'm on, and doing a similar project. Of course, here, I don't even think anyone seriously knows I'm on. I haven't mentioned this journal to my pals at LJ (yet), and I don't know that I even want to have that sort of crossover at this point. After all, there's crossover onto MySpace and Facebook and flickr other such stuff. I'm sure people might be getting sick of me turning up everywhere.

I don't know. Is there a need or want for some sort of interview journal here? Would people want to be interviewed about their lives? Would people want to read it? Is anyone even reading THIS??

Yeah... I'm needy and feeling out in the wilderness again here. But I haven't been that good about writing or promoting, so I'm as much to blame for it as any other people who might find me here.

Any and all thoughts are welcome!
